Another Motivating Message

It's so hard to believe I've been on this "Mommy Journey" for more than 20 years! Both of our daughters are now young adults, preparing for their future. They are completing college, looking for career opportunities and praying for which path to follow as they leave home to begin life on their own.  Although their hopes and dreams have changed over the years, I still stand by the following "Motivating Mommy Messages" I wrote many years ago to inspire myself and others. And I hope no matter where you are on your parenting journey, you will find these words are still relevant for you too!

1) Ask for Help:  You don't have to aspire to be a "Super Mom" to be a great parent. Reach out to others you can trust. Many Moms are not just managing their children, but they are also care givers to their elderly parents. Learn to ask for help from family members and friends so you can enjoy some well deserved me time.

2) Be Prepared:  Planning ahead can save time and money.  Get help as you plan your day-to-day schedule and your future.  If you have young children, prepare their school lunches the night before and set out their clothes. Get financial advice for your child's college plans and for your retirement. You may want to meet with experts or read reliable resources in the areas of physical health, organization and mental stability.

3) Complete your Tasks: When you start something, finish it. Keeping your promises will show others you can be trusted and it also shows you are reliable. Having a consistent track record can also make you a stand out candidate when it comes to promotions on your job and being recommended for leadership opportunities in your community.

4) Dress for Respect: It doesn't matter if your clothes are from the mall, a friends closet or the thrift store. Don't focus on the designer label. When you dress in a respectful way, you will gain respect from others.

5) Encourage Someone: You never know who may need your support. Simple acts of kindness may make a big difference to a Mom who is having a tough day.  A smile, a positive word or a hug can make a Mom feel better. Give encouragement to another Mom and tell her she matters.

I hope these messages will uplift you as you travel your road through Motherhood.

5 Motivating Mommy Messages

It's so hard to believe I've been on this "Mommy Journey" for more than 20 years! Both of our daughters are now young adults, preparing for their future. They are completing college, looking for career opportunities and praying for which path to follow as they leave home to begin life on their own.  Although their hopes and dreams have changed over the years, I still stand by the same "Motivating Mommy Messages" I wrote many years ago to inspire myself and others. And I hope no matter where you are on your Motherhood journey, you will find these words are relevant to you too:

1) Ask for Help:  You don't have to be "Super Mom" to be labeled as a good parent. Reach out to others you can trust. Learn to ask for help from family members and friends.

2) Be Prepared:  Don't just "wing it". Take time to plan ahead. Not just planning for the next day for work and school, but for your life. Speak to a financial expert to plan for your financial future; make healthy choices for your physical health.  Planning ahead can save you time and energy.

3) Complete your Tasks: When you start something, finish it. Keeping your promises will show others you can be trusted and it also shows your leadership skills.

4) Dress for Respect: It doesn't matter if your clothes are from the mall or the thrift store. Don't focus on the designer label or if it has no label. When you dress in a respectful way, you will gain respect from others.

5) Encourage Someone: You never know who may need your support; a kind word, a hug or a smile. Give encouragement to another Mom and tell her she matters.

I hope these messages will uplift you as you travel the road through Motherhood💗

Happy New Me in 2023

Recently our Youth Pastor gave an awesome sermon at our church. He reminded the congregation, at any age, we ALL have a purpose. It was such a powerful message for me. Throughout my life I've always had goals; graduating from high school, going to college, having a media career, falling in love.  However, after having children, my life was all about them. Somehow over time, I kind of lost myself. The only thing I focused on was helping my children achieve their dreams and making sure they had the physical and financial resources they needed. I don't blame my children. The onus is really on me for forgetting who I was and putting my dreams on hold. Anybody else feeling that way?

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm your; plans to give you a future and a hope".

If you are 25, 47, 63 or 90, don't lose hope. Keep making plans. No, matter your season in life, you still have value. It's never too late to go back to college, write that book, start that business. Remind yourself, everyday, you have a lot to give!

The Next Chapter

Recently, I started reading this amazing book entitled ROAR Into the Second Half of Your Life (Before It's Too Late). It's written by Michael Clinton.  The word ROAR is actually an acronym for R - Reimagine yourself; O - Own who you are; A - Act on what's next; R - Reassess your relationships. What makes the book so refreshing is it's target audience is people 40 years and older.  Most books I've seen with a theme of "planning for the future" rarely include people of  that age. We're categorized as getting ready for retirement, not reimaging ourselves.

ROAR doesn't just focus on your next job, but what you want to do to fulfill your true purpose in life.  Playing with the grandchildren is great and having that weekly yoga class is fun. But, why should the year of your birth dictate when opportunities have come to an end? You can still move to a new city, find love or learn a new language.

I believe your story isn't over. No matter your age, it's never too late  to write the next chapter of your life.  In fact, it could be the best one yet!

Keep Moving Forward

Walt Disney was an American animation pioneer. Disney was also a film producer, voice actor and entrepreneur. And of course, he was the master mind who helped design Disneyland.

Disney was known for the encouraging words, “Keep Moving Forward”. But that was just a portion of his quote. The entire message was: “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths”.

One scripture that mirrors Disney’s message is Job 17:9 which says, “The righteous keep moving forward and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.

We all have a purpose. Don’t let anything take you off your path, even the detour of a Pandemic.  We’ll get through this crisis, if we Keep Moving Forward.

Slow Down

Hi Moms:
Some days, motherhood can be a complete blur! You don't even remember what you did the entire day and now it's bed time. But enjoy these days.  The time between pre-school and high school goes by way too fast. So slow down. Family time is special time.
